Stirling Highland Hotel

Great hotel in the centre of Stirling, steeped in history and very comfortable, spotlessly clean with great facilities. Just a short(uphill)walk to the famous castle and the museum. The scholars bar is delightful and well decorated, as is the whole hotel. Breakfast is a buffet for hot food and freely available cereals toast and pastries. Cold cuts and cheese is also on the menu. Hotel and room were good value, but the bed was very soft so had a really poor sleep. Service from all staff was attentive, however, the breakfast manager was taking plates from our table when we were still eating. A bit of advice - wait until guests are finished eating before clearing tables.

Myself and my partner booked in this hotel for my 60th Birthday for an overnight stay and spa treatment. I was a bit worried as some of the reviews stated it was not very clean. We got there and the staff were so welcoming and the rooms were spotless. Didn't eat at the restuarant but did go to the bar and again the staff were very friendly and nothing was a problem for them. I would 100% stay at the hotel again. Unfortunately the pool was not available as they were having heating problems and our Spa treatments had to be moved to the next day, but all in all it is a lovely hotel. Reviews were also saying it was a bit dated and yes it was, but we thought it was lovely and that's what you want in an old building. So will be booking again next year for an overnight stay.

Stirling Highland Hotel is an excellent choice if location is your priority. Very close to Stirling Castle (approx. 200 m), the old town, the Robert the Bruce statue and within easy reach of the National Wallace Monument. The concept and revitalisation of a former school into a hotel with spa deserve recognition. The dining hall with buffet breakfast is impressive, as is the adjacent historic library. Breakfast is very good and included in the price. Parking is paid, but free options in the city centre are very limited. Rooms are clean and comfortable, but show visible wear: torn curtains, scratched furniture, cracked bathroom tiles and tired towels. Some practical details need attention, including poor exterior signage at night and minor maintenance issues. Despite these drawbacks, the location and atmosphere make this a place worth considering, especially when travelling north by car. A solid stay overall. Recommended.

We had a really enjoyable stay at the Stirling Highland Hotel. The staff were wonderful, friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and easy. The food was absolutely amazing, full of flavour, beautifully presented, and definitely one of the highlights of our stay. The leisure facilities, including the pool, hot tub, and sauna, were great and just as you’d expect from a public setup: clean, well-maintained, and a nice bonus to have on site. The only downside was the room, which was quite dated, and the walls were very thin, we could hear our neighbour talking on the phone and walking around, which wasn’t ideal. Overall, it’s a charming hotel with excellent staff, great food, and decent facilities. A few updates to the rooms and it would easily be a five-star experience.

Lovely old style picturesque building in a great central location , good parking at a minimal cost £10 which is ok. The staff are very friendly and attentive and service is excellent at the restaurant which has a lovely menu and quality of the food excellent ,breakfast is buffet style and very good with a good choice and freshly cooked and laid out . Very good value for money the rooms are yes a bit dated but tidy and clean and perfect for an overnight stay. Would definitely stay again and recommend

We went here for my birthday weekend. The hotel is lovely, very clean. The staff cannot do enough to help you. The heating in the dining room was broken the first morning of breakfast but the staff explained why and took time to speak to each table. It was very cold but a cup of tea helped! By that night the hotel had lost all heating and hot water. A letter was put through the door to explain what was happening. It did mean we couldn't shower before bed or give our Granddaughter a bath but not the end of the world. It was all fixed by morning. I would recommend this hotel and it's staff who handled it well and the other guests who were not very happy.

The rooms are basic amenities, But very very clean. We stayed in a dog friendly room and it was immaculate. The choice of food from the hotel is also basic, but some good options if you’re stuck. The leisure facilities are also good, lovely gym and I enjoyed the sauna and steam room. I don’t think that if you have already payed for a hotel stay you should also have to pay to use those facilities tho! Hotel location is perfect, 10 minutes from the train station, really close to every shop you could need. Overall a lovely stay.
